Gingerbread Recipe for Figures

Delicious gingerbread recipe perfect for Christmas treats. Crisp, flavorful, and full of holiday spices.

Ingredients

  • 300g butter
  • 300g sugar
  • 0.5 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 dl dark syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tsp baking soda
  • approx. 900g wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Melt butter, sugar, and syrup in a pot until the sugar dissolves. Add the spices and stir well.
  2. Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly before adding the eggs.
  3. Add baking soda and gradually sift in the flour until a firm dough forms.
  4. Let the dough rest in the fridge for at least half an hour.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 2-3 mm thickness, cut out figures, and bake at 175°C for about 10 minutes.
  6. Cool the cookies on a rack and decorate with royal icing.
